Sports Overview

In addition to the funds already set aside by the school for PE and Sports, the Government has pledged 150m of new funding for PE in schools, equating to around 8,885 extra funding for primary schools.

Although there is no statutory requirement for schools to devote a specific amount of time to PE, Crompton Primary has adopted the aspirational target of the previous government to deliver two hours of PE and school sport each week. This has effectively doubled our curricular sports provision to enable pupils to develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

The school delivers an extensive, skills-based and motivational programme, covering all areas of the National Curriculum in a safe and well-equipped environment. In line with our Healthy Schools accreditation, pupils develop an understanding of the importance of fitness, a healthy lifestyle and a positive self-image.

In addition to a good balance of games, gymnastics, dance, swimming and athletics the school also offers traditional and alternative extra-curricular sporting activities and participation in inter-school competitions.

Crompton Primary School is proud to have achieved a Sainsbury's School Games Gold Kitemark in recognition of its commitment to sport.
