Our learning this half term
This half term, we have based our reading on The Stone Age Boy, the children enjoyed writing their experience in the Stone Age from the perspective of a Stone Age girl/ boy. We have been investigating how people lived in the Stone Age and compared it to life today. Children enjoyed creating ‘real-life Stone Age art’ outside the classroom using natural colouring.
In maths, we have been focusing on fractions. We have been finding a set amount of a number - this had a strong focus on division. We finished the half-term learning about money, we created shops in the class for children to buy objects with money (focusing on giving change). Children are now ready to check change given by the shopkeeper!
In science, we have enjoyed learning about plants. We have investigated what plants need to grow and we grew our very own plants - some children placed their plants in a cupboard to observe whether they grew (they did not!). During this half-term, we enjoyed our eco day which was closely related to our plant topic, we used recyclable pringle pots to plant more plants.
Year 3 have enjoyed a mental health day this half term, pupils enjoyed spending the morning being active and playing tennis.
